Porsche Insurance Guide..

Car insurance is compulsory by law for any driver on the UK roads. With this in mind there are three main types of insurance available to the motorist that fulfils their legal obligations. These types of insurance are:

Third Party Car Insurance
Third Party Fire and Theft Car Insurance
Comprehensive Car Insurance

Although these insurance types fulfil legal obligations they vary dramatically in the type of cover that they offer the driver. This article will discuss the positives and negatives of all three types of insurance and give a table for each to illustrate what they actually cover you against.

Third Party Porsche Insurance

Third party car insurance is the lowest level of cover that a driver is legally required to have in order to drive on the UK roads, this type of cover will be the cheapest available for a motorist but also offers the least cover to the driver.

Third party insurance covers a third parties property in the event of an accident. This means that if you have an accident that is your fault your car insurance will pay out on any other vehicles involved. However third party car insurance will not cover your car in the event of an accident, it will be your responsibility to pay for the damage or claim expenses from another driver if the accident was not your fault.

Another draw back to third party insurance is the fact that your vehicle is not covered in the event of theft or fire. If your car is stolen or damaged due to fire your car insurance company has no responsibility to cover expenses that you may suffer. Below is a table to show you exactly what you are covered against:

Damage to your car -> NO
Third Party Damage -> YES
Theft -> NO
Fire Damage -> NO

Third Party Fire & Theft Porsche Insurance

Third party fire and theft car insurance cover is the intermediate level cover of the three basic types of car insurance. It offers substantially more cover than third party for not much more money, however, it still lacks the basic cover most porsche drivers expect.

Third party fire and theft comes with all the cover that you would receive from third party insurance but has the addition of cover in case of theft or fire. For a little added cost from a third party insurance cover you can have piece of mind over things like theft that are completely out of your control. Below is a table that shows you exactly what third party fire and theft insurance covers you against:

Damage to your car -> NO
Third Party Damage -> YES
Theft -> YES
Fire Damage -> YES

Poll

Should tax discs be scrapped in favour of charging per mile?

Yes. I don't use the roads much so shouldn't pay the same as everyone else.
No. People who drive for a living would be far worse off.
