Car insurance companies have warned there are many car thieves in England who are using the cold weather at the moment to take advantage of drivers. They have found a new way to steal cars which the police are calling 'Frost-Jacking'. The thieves wait for motorists to start their cars to warm them up and while they go back inside their homes to get their briefcase, jacket or even hot water to clear their windscreen, the thieves quickly come and steal their cars. This has affects on the motorist's car insurance.
The areas in which this been very bad are the northwest of England . There were over 65 cases of this type of theft in the four weeks before Christmas in Manchester . On one morning in December it was reported there were 14 of these incidents.
Police are advising motorists that over the coming colder months if you leave you car running, even for a few minutes, you should always remember to lock your car and take the keys with you.
Many car insurers in the UK are warning that owners who have their cars stolen in an incident like this will definitely risk invalidating their car insurance by failing to follow these guidelines taking reasonable responsibility. This really echos the police advice of always locking your car when you leave it running.
